I was able to get my first full day off from work on Friday to make a 4 day wknd, and the weather is forecast to be mid 80’s well into next week. So I took the opportunity to order a load of gravel to fill in and add to the parking areas and around the patio. Lots of settling and some erosion(from my blower) over the past 15 years since I put in the first load. With some settling and divots from the last time, I didn’t want an 80,000 lb dump truck doing any further damage to my driveway, so I had the load dropped right at the end of the straight part before it curves under trees towards the house. I would rather move it all myself by wheelbarrow than risk the damage.
The truck arrived at 1:30 and 10 yards of gravel with sand cost $360 incl tax and delivery. Its a lot of gravel. What I may not use initially will get piled up and saved for something else. One can always use gravel. Wendy helped me start shoveling into the wheelbarrow and I started wheeling it into various places. Our goal was to get enough moved to get around it with the vehicles. I finally was tired and sore enough by 5:30 to quit, but figured we got 1/3 to 1/2 of it moved, about 45 loads. I will do more on Saturday. I do not necessarily intend to finish it right away, but we’ll see. And I won’t be spreading it from the little piles I made until it is all moved. I definately need to NOT hurt my back, and also keep enough energy for a good hike on Sunday.
