Dec 29 Friday – Christmas in Aiken Day 9 – More relaxing

Friday I was up a little after 6am, but I had slept well. Must have coffee. More coffee. Went online. Karen made Oatmeal for breakfast, then David got his blower out and took care of leaves in the yard. After that he and I went to Hitchcock Woods to do some light hiking. 6.2 km(4 mi) total. Cool but bright and sunny, and I warmed up hiking. Took some pics, crossed paths with a couple on horseback, but didn’t see any other wildlife. Nice swampy areas. Even a sign warning of quicksand.

On the way back, we stopped for a few groceries, swapped a propane tank for a full one, and got some New York strip steaks at a local butcher for supper. After I showered and cleaned up, we all went to see the new Star Wars movie at 345 with a couple from Karen’s church, then they came over to join us for steak dinner. David made peppersteak on the grill. Karen opened a bottle of bourbon stout to try, but none of us liked it. I suggested adding a scoop of ice cream after supper for a stout float, but that didn’t help. I think its just an acquired taste if you happen to like it. We all chatted for awhile.

Went to bed about 10, but took me a long time to get to sleep, my stomach was kind of sour, probably that bourbon stout. But once I got to sleep I slept fairly well, with a few more coughing bouts during the night. Feels like congestion is not quite gone yet.
