Dec 30 Saturday – Christmas in Aiken Day 10 – Heading home

Got up this morning at 730. Must have coffee. Must have more coffee. Had a couple of Karens lebkuchen with it while on the computer. Need to start catching up on my blogs. Been too busy, have let it slide, way behind since Costa Rica.

Karen & David had an early morning walk, back by 8, then once Wendy was ready, K made some yogurt & fruit smoothies and toast for breakfast. Light enough so our lunch at Dukes BBQ would hold us until dinner. Dukes was good. Almost as good as Carolina BBQ. Even the surroundings were similar. $11 each for all you can eat. Wendy particularly enjoyed the ribs, having had 3 of them. But she was ticked that she somehow missed the pigskins. A whole container awaited her but she never saw them.

After lunch we had a 30 minute drive to the airport. The timing was perfect. NO ONE in any line to check bags, we walked right in and were on our way to TSA. TSA was empty and waiting, we were “first” to go thru, had to remove all as expected, but didn’t take long. Then it was sitting and waiting for our flight. The plane landed early, not that we could board early, but we boarded promptly when called. I don’t like the CRJ. I mean, its ok for a 30 min flight, tight but comfortable enough, but I couldn’t take it for 2-3 hrs as some flights use it. At least the seats are 2+2, not 3+3.

Slightly early into ATL, we made our way to gate A24 where we sat down RIGHT at the PREMIUM boarding marker in front of the jetway door. We had a little over 2 hrs to wait, so I went for a walk. The flight was departing at 559 but boarding began at 515. There were LOTS of families taking advantage of Pre-boarding, so we had to wait a little longer than usual. BUT we were still ahead of all “the little people” in economy, and made our way again to seats 3C & D. The same seats we had SEA-ATL a week earlier.

We took off on time, and once at cruising altitude 32000′, dinner was served. Wendy had ordered Gluten Free ahead and they had it, although cold, and I had a chicken dish which, albeit slightly cool, was very delicious. Since it was 6 hours after lunch, I was ready for it.

I refuse to watch a movie on the plane. I didn’t going to or from Costa Rica, and I haven’t on this trip yet. Time to pull out my computer and work on this blog, and review the pictures and videos I took.

It was a full flight. Thank God we were up front, it was a 5hour and 30 minute flight. I enjoyed every minute of it.

We landed SEA at 845 and got our bags fairly quickly, and Carolyn was not far away, ready to pick us up. We were home by 10 and I was in bed by 11. What a great trip!
