It was a busy week in Lake Wobegon, my hometown…….

This past week was one busy week at work, after months of much less to do. Mostly because Steve went to Italy for two plus weeks and I’m covering his desk in addition to my own. It really hasn’t been as bad (yet) as I thought it might be, and now I’ve only got one week to go before he gets back. Sometime this week I’ve got a new customer(individual) coming in to talk about importing some hundred or more bottles of wine and liquor from Germany for his own personal use. They’re a german couple who’ve been living in Seattle area for a few years, and now want to have some of their household goods shipped over, as well as their personal wine collection. There shouldn’t be any problem in doing so, as long as they pay all federal and state excise taxes as required. It’ll just require a detailed list of every bottle they have and their sizes/amounts.

On Wednesday, Wendy went up to her mom’s for a week. She was able to request some PTO (paid time off) with a few weeks notice. Since I was gone for a week to SC, I guess she felt she needed to return the favor. I don’t mind, I enjoy the house alone every now and then. Always a good time to do more serious house cleaning.

Saturday(and Sunday too) weatherwise was not good. A damp, rainy, dreary day prevented me from hiking, so I spent a few hours at work to “keep up” so I don’t get backlogged to soon this coming week. I had two fish shipments to clear anyway. I also bought something I hadn’t planned, but wanted for awhile. I went online to iTunes and purchased and downloaded Jesus Christ Superstar, which I haven’t heard for probably 20 years. I don’t know what happened to the original album we had growing up, I suspect Karen may have it. But this download was the same album and I burned it to cd for use in the car, which I did. Listening to it brings back memories. I’m also remembering most of the words which kind of surprises me. It also seems to me to be timeless, it was so well written. As if it could have just been written, it sounds as good today as it did way back when. When I went to bed Saturday night I could’t get the tunes out of my head….. As I write this, I’m listening to it again.

Sunday I got up and did a thorough vacuuming, and general tidy up. I also cleaned up the garage so the truck can be parked inside again, after months of being kept out because of the log benches I’ve been working on. Of four I cut this summer, two are now done(one already given away) and two more remain unfinished. I’m just waiting for them to dry out more before more and thorough sanding and the polyurethane applications. That and the weather is not so warm anymore, as if we had a summer this year anyway…..
