Sunday – light rain, no hike, but more trail building

Sunday morning was not raining when I got up, but it was forecast. By the time I was done with a light breakfast(around 10am), it was sprinkling. But I decided to go out and do one more trail extension anyway. I didn’t get that wet really.

I ended Saturday by the garden fence, but I decided I want the trail to go across the front of the house from near where I left off Saturday west to the driveway. It was lightly raining most of the time, but I just worked anyway. It was on our property of course, between our house and what used to be Marv and Mary Mitchell’s.

It didn’t take me long, and the trail still needs a little more work, but mostly its done. You can see pictures of the whole weekends trail extension at my picasa uploads. I had to cut thru several downed logs but that wasn’t hard as they were mostly rotted, and easy to break apart. There was one old snag, about 30′ high that was rotting, so I dropped it. The bottom 10 feet appear to be in good shape, so it’ll become firewood.

The work was relatively easy, it’s fun work. I probably won’t use the trail that much, but either the kids next door will, or the deer and elk should. This completes my full yard perimeter trail. After I was done, I cleaned and sharpened my chainsaw in the garage while listening to Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. It was still sprinkling yet with a cool breeze out, and I enjoyed a snack while I worked. Afterwards, I was cold so a hot bath cleaned and warmed me up. Wendy is working most of the day so its peace and quiet for me.

Next weekend is my train ride to Essex with Dad for the NARP meeting. I’ll post a separate update afterwards.
