A Hiking and Yard Work weekend

The weather was finally decent this weekend, albeit slightly cool in the mornings.

Saturday I started up Rattlesnake at 7:45 and had the ledge to myself for about 15 minutes. The sun was out and it felt good, with only a slight breeze. I was there for about 20 minutes and the few others that showed up were quiet but enough for me to leave. On the way down I counted 150 people hiking up, including a group of about 30 teens just starting out at the trailhead. The rest of the day was spent changing oil on the truck, then going to Dad’s to change his kitchen faucet. I briefly helped Mary with her new iPod but ran out of time and had to head home. I got home about 6 and mowed our lawn and starting to mow the neighbors(they were away for the weekend and Craig hadn’t yet mowed for the first time yet – it was quite long). I was worn out by days end and slept very well.

Sunday I got up about 6:30 with Wendy, and after my normal oatmeal, had her drop me of at exit 38 on her way to work. I started hiking up Mt. Washington(the big mtn behind the house) at 8:15 and got to the half way point about 9:30. There was too much snow up there yet to continue so I turned around and headed down. If I’d had snow shoes it wouldn’t have been any problem. I hiked home via the Twin Falls trail and there were at least another 150 peoople enjoying a mothers day hike. I then finished mowing the neighbors lawn and used the weedwacker on both their yard and ours. Another worn out day. I know I’ll sleep well again.
