Been awhile since my last post. Whats up with that?

I have been neglecting my blog the past couple weeks. Can’t explain why but I need to catch up briefly.

The week after Mt Rainier, I attempted to go all the way to top of Mt Washington, the big mtn behind our house. I got all but the last 3/4 mile, then just ran out of energy. Never had that happen before. Had plenty of oatmeal a hour before hiking, thats usually good enough for me with maybe a trailbar on the hike. But I really think it may have been not quite enough hydration, early enough before starting out. While I had some tea with my breakfast, I usually have a large glass of water or juice when I first get up. This time I didn’t. I did have 3 liters of water on my back that I was constantly drinking while hiking but it probably wasn’t enough early enough to keep up. As I hiked back down and kept drinking I could feel myself “coming back:”. The rest of my day was pretty much normal.

Last weekend my coworker Kent Biden came out and joined me for an easy 7 miles from Rattlesnake Lake up the John Wayne Trail to Twin Falls and then home. Just 3 hours, started at 815am, arrived home 1130. Got us both the exercise we needed. The weather started out pretty nice but clouded up pretty fast once we started. Never rained though, and with a slight wind to our backs was quite comfortable.

Today is the last day of September, and Wendy and I decided to take a little mid week trip to our favorite wineries in the Yakima valley. Wendy had Mon-Tue-Wed off, a rarity for three days in a row, so I took Tues afternoon and all day Wed off. Fortunately, things a worked calmed down a bit after a very busy last week. When I got home from work about 1pm we packed up a few things and headed east. Stopped at Tefft Cellars and Bonair Winery before getting to Prosser, where we spent the night. A liesurely morning waiting for Kestrel Vintners to open at 10 and a couple others at 11, then we’ll check out and make our visits before heading home later this afternoon. The weather here is clear and cool, while its nasty rainy back in North Bend.
