Dec 10 – Costa Rica Trip Day 4 – Saying goodbye to the group

All the group activity is now over so no more being nervous or having any anticipation of anything. Time to relax. Slept VERY well last night after the big-beach-sunset-dinner in Tamarindo. Got up at 730 and made a couple cups of espresso, one regular, one decaf, with the room espresso maker and sat on the deck. This espresso maker was similar to a Keurig coffee maker only smaller and made tiny little cups of espress. I just ran it twice so the coffee wasn’t so strong.

Its much cooler this morning and breezy. Yesterday was supposedly 91 and 70% humidity. Today is supposed to be 83 and 63%. Much more like summer at home.

At 900 we walked down to the Mansita Restaurant, the anytime B/L/D no reservations required place to eat. Buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room when we were part of the group. Starting tomorrow when we’re on our own, its not included. We saw a few of the others from the group getting their bkfst before they depart at 1000 for their afternoon flight home. At 945 we headed up to the lobby to say thank you and goodbye to Keith and the others leaving. Also changed our room from the group reservation to our own and they reissued our room keys, since they would have expired at noon under the old reservation.

Came back to the room to wash up and get organized and then I headed out to the beach. The tide was way out making it easy explore the rocks, so I texted Wendy and she came down too. I used my “go-pro” to video a little.  Not a lot to see on the beach, some tiny fish and a couple crustaceans in tidepools, but nice ocean and landside views.

Coming back I walked around the pool area and thru the hotel back to the room to give a waist high view with the gopro.

Came back to the room, and then we went down to the gift shop and got a few things, including a little wood tucan corkscrew, so we could open the bottle of wine that Keith gave us the first night after dinner. We shared the bottle on the deck of our room, with some plantain chips and cassava chips. Sweet and salty.

At 4 we went to the concierge and booked a 2 hr zip line tour for Monday morning at 11. At 530 we went to the poolside Azur Grill for dinner but they were closed. So we went back to the Mansita Restaurant and we had an unexpectedly great dinner. I had a whole(albeit small) grilled octopus with grilled potatoes and tomatoes in a light mustard sauce. It was just the right size actually, and, Wow, it was fantastic. It was not tough and chewy, it was cooked perfectly and grilled lightly as well.

After dinner we thought about going swimming. But about 8pm I noticed my throat starting to get sore, like beginnings of a cold. So I didn’t feel like it. Went to bed early.
