Dec 21 Thursday – Christmas in Aiken Day 1 – Flight to Atlanta

I got all caught up at work today and was able to leave on time at 5. Got home by 6, Wendy was all packed up, we had dinner, and Carolyn drove us to the airport at 730, much earlier than we needed to be but we easily checked our 2 bags and sailed thru security. I had thought that being first class we would have access to Delta Skyclub, but they said its a fee, or for members, or international first class passengers. So we waited with all the other little people in the south satellite for our 1145pm flight.

DL 1098 was supposed to begin loading at 1110, but it was a few minutes later than that when they called for preboarding. About 1120 they called for Premium and SkyPriority boarding and we promptly made our way to our first class seats 3C & D. Nice. Not layflat seats like on a wide body, but our 737-900 was more than comfy.

Before the little people in back had finished boarding, our attentive stewardess already had provided us with a bloody mary for Wendy and a Jack Daniels for me.  We were 10 minutes late departing, but once up in the air, I had a second drink with a couple of snacks, then relatively easily fell asleep. Wendy watched a movie for the whole flight, she couldn’t sleep.

Apparently we had a fairly fast tailwind, as the flight was only 3:50 and we arrived slightly early in Atlanta, about 0630 ET(0330 Seattle time!). It seemed much to short for me because I slept. I would have liked to enjoy the first class more, but will do that on the way home.
