Getting ready for the drive….

Had a normal day at work, getting my desk all cleaned up. Its been slow for awhile, so now is a good time to take time off. I was still the last one out at 5pm but only because everyone else left early.

Got most of my packing done, I’m going extremely light. With older clothes that I can throw away instead of taking them all home dirty. Everything is in one backpack. The maps and tourbooks are in their own plastic bag, and Karen and David can keep them when we’re done with them, or toss ’em, ’cause I’m not carrying them home. Have a separate bag for CD’s and DVD’s and K&D can keep or toss them too. I burned copies for them, leaving the originals at home.

This will be a fun trip. Karen says shes tired and this will be a great way for her to relax and quit thinking about the move. Just look forward to starting new and fresh.

I’m going to head out about 3pm Friday and spend the night in Richland with Karen and Mary. K says her car is too full of stuff to carry Mary AND everything Mary is taking home, so they want me to come all the way there. Then we’ll leave first thing Saturday morning heading east toward Yellowstone. I’ve planned it so we’re only going to take the shortest route, West Yellowstone to the south exit, about 67 miles. But it will take us by Old Faithful, and since thats a regular blow, we’ll likely stop for our break there then hit the road again. I’m just not sure exactly WHEN we’ll get there. Staying overnight in the park is probably out of the question without advance reservations on a holiday weekend. But we should be able to make it thru the park and find a place south of there in Wyoming to stay. The tourbooks will give us leads on places to stay, and we can call ahead when we have an idea of when we’ll get wherever.
