The Trip about to begin

I left home at 2:45 this afternoon, felt like I was forgetting something. But no. Got on the hwy eastbound and noticed a big backup going westbound. Hmmm, must be an accident. Amost 3 miles of backup, sure glad I didn’t forget anything and have to turn around. Eastbound there were lots of campers and concert goers bound for the Gorge. But smooth traffic overall. Made it to Richland about 5:30.

Karen & Mary were in the final cleanup stages at the house, then we packed up some recyclables and garbage and dumped them, then grabbed whatever was left and headed for the Critchlow’s where we’ll spend the night. Went out to dinner at Sterlings, a fancied up Denny’s, lots of choices, then came back and repacked both cars. Only minor stuff to add in the morning. Karen is doing some last second laundry here, then bed, and we’ll aim to get up at 6, showers and a bite to eat, finish packing, and maybe on the road by 7:30-8am.

Our first day on the road will likely take us to Butte or Bozeman. It’ll be cheaper to stay overnight there, rather than in West Yellowstone or in the park itself, and then just a short stretch to Yellowstone in the morning. We likely make it to Cheyenne,WY by the end of the day. We’ll see.
