Up at 5:15 this morning, Paducah KY this morning was only 78 degrees but still quite humid. Felt like my glasses wanted to fog up just walking outside. After breakfast at 6, we gassed up and departed about 7:30 and continued southeast bound, towards Nashville.
This was the most stifling day for me, ranging between 88 and 92, but fortunately we were inside the car all day. We hit 4 states today. KY, TN, GA, & SC. Didn’t get pics of GA.
But of course theyre kind of close together. Karen drove the first 2 hours, while I enjoyed a movie on the laptop. We switched drivers at an offramp about 1.5 hours before Chattanooga TN. We stopped for lunch just past Chattanooga, gassed up, and I continued driving all the way past Atlanta, to about ½ hour before Augusta GA, when Karen wanted to take over and do the driving the rest of the way HOME.
We arrived at the temporary apartment in Aiken at 10 minutes to 6, pretty much when the GPS calculated we would arrive. David had walked to get the mail and he saw us and I saw him, so we knew we were in the right place. A very nice apartment building. Unpacked, we began to relax. David made some grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup and salad for supper, and we end the day catching each other up on the previous week.
The day was again uneventful. As a whole for the trip, weve been very lucky we had no delays, problems or traffic issues. Couldnt have been smoother. Ive never seen so many semi trucks on the roads we followed. Around the bigger cities, traffic was comparably lighter than Im used to seeing in Seattle, but far more trucks going every which way. There were very few police cars the whole way, but we didnt need them anyway.
