This was the weekend I’ve been waiting for!

With all the work thats suddenly piled up because of Alan’s stroke, I had to spend a good part of Saturday the 4th at the office. But the weather FINALLY showed what I hope is what we can expect much more of this spring and summer – SUN!

I worked from about 8:30am to 2:30pm, then had to make a couple stops on the way home for Wendy. But once I got home about 4 it just felt so nice and comfortable out with sun and mid 60’s. I put up some add’l shelving in the laundry room last weekend, up above my head and out of the way to just add more storage space, but I had one more piece to finish. Once that was done, I planned on washing the car. But I got busy moving the picnic tables from the side of the house to the patio, then reposition 4-1/2 tree logs that I hope to eventually turn in to lumber(now that Alan is incapacitated I may have to figure some other way of getting the logs to a mill).

The logs as they were:

The logs as they are now:

I had to roll them to the general area, then onto a 2×4 centered underneath so I could rotate them, then rolled them off into their current position. Once I figured out how to do that, it was pretty easy. They are heavy, probably 500-1000 lbs each, and the biggest ones are slightly out of round, which makes them harder to roll.

On Sunday the 5th, Kent Biden (from the office) and his wife drove out to experience Rattlesnake ledge with me. I was their guide, they wanted some exercise, and since it was a nice day, we all took advantage of it. We started up about 9 before too many people got there, and the trail was 4/5th clear of snow, but the last fifth was a little slippery and melting. I brought my poles along so each of us had something to steady ourselves with. It was very windy at the top, but clear otherwise, and not too cold. There were lots of people coming up while we went down. At the bottom again, we hiked around the whole lake, which I figured was about 1.5 miles, maybe 2, not sure, so we had over 5 miles total. The lake was just low enough to do so(is a reservoir). Then I took them on a brief tour of N.Bend and showed them Alan’s and Mitch’s houses, then drove home and we relaxed on the patio waiting for the lunch the Wendy prepared to be ready.

They left about 3pm and I finally washed the car, then was pooped and came in for supper. What a day!
