May 21 Viking Funeral-Admirals Cove-Whidbey Island – Day 5 – Our last day

I got up at 615, first one up. Made myself a cup of coffee, took a picture of Wendy and Carolyn out on the deck in sleeping bags.

It was completely fogged in outside. The community, the bay, everywhere. Online weather showed much of the Puget Sound was fogged in, but continued sun was anticipated, and North Bend was expecting a high of 79.  We didn’t need to check out until as late as 6pm today, so we could enjoy this place as long as possible.

Carolyn and Wendy got up next, and came inside for coffee. Scott was next, and his routine is coffee asap followed by whatever works for breakfast. In his case, a bowl of Cheerios. He couldn’t wait for the egg and ham casserole that Wendy was baking. But he did have some later.  He wanted to watch Meet the Press that’s usually on Sunday mornings, but nothing was on yet in our time zone. So he and I chatted. I noticed Carolyn head back to bed in our bedroom, so I went and shut the door to give her a little peace.

Vickie was next up, and chatted with Wendy, and once Randy finally got up, I served myself a helping of the casserole, to get it started. Others followed after I was done.

Scott was first to depart about 1030, as he had a 2.5 hr drive to SeaTac for a 2pm flight. He wanted to drive north thru Deception Pass as he hadn’t been that way before. And, it turns out he timed it right.

Vickie and Wendy left at noon to go revisit the little shop A Touch of Dutch in Coupeville looking for a specific kind of licorice, but they didn’t find it. After plenty of relaxing and chatting they left at about 130 and we started our cleanup prior to our own departure at about 300.

This was one fantastic place to stay, and while a little pricey it served our purpose well. We were only 2 houses away from the clubhouse, so everything for us was very convenient. Everyone had a good time, except us. We had a GREAT time. Too bad its now over.

Our drive home north thru Deception Pass also was uneventful, and we were home about 5pm.
